About Us
Helping our customers Since 1945
Thompson Electric is a 3rd generation family owned business that has served the Belleville to Cornwall corridor of Eastern Ontario for over 70 years.
When Russell Thompson returned from serving over seas in WWII, he settled in the Seeley’s Bay area and soon established Thompson Electric as a one man electrical repair service.
Since then, we have grown through three generations of family ownership to become an established and recognized electrical contractor in the Kingston & 1000 Islands region.

The Ontario auto industry’s focus on investing in electric vehicle development is possibly the most significant shift since the introduction of the automated assembly line in the early part of the 20th century.
With an estimated 31 million new EV’s on the road by 2030, Ontario is poised for a major shift in the infrastructure that supports our day-to-day travel.
With increasingly more EV’s on our road each year, it is becoming increasingly important that drivers have the ability to conveniently and safely charge their vehicles both at home or out and on the go.
If you are considering installing EV charging equipment, either at home, at the cottage or at your place of work, Thompson Electric is here to help.
Thompson Electric can help to explain the different styles and types of chargers that are available and which best suits your needs.
Thompson Electric can help to see if your home is charger ready and what steps are needed before you can plug and go!
WHAT IS AN EV CHARGING STATION?
When you purchase your EV, you’re going to need a charger to keep you on the move. Your home EV charging station is the most convenient way to ensure that your cars battery is ready to go when you are. Up to 80% of an EV’s charge time happens at home.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
We can help you get set up and install your home charging stations with a few quick and easy steps!
DO I HAVE ENOUGH POWER?
A level II charger requires that your home electrical service has enough power and space in the panel to accommodate your new
station.
WHERE DO I WANT TO INSTALL MY CHARGING STATION?
Your charging unit can be mounted inside or outside, on the wall or mounted on a pedestal. Its all up to you. Where ever you decide to locate your charger, it should be within 18’ from where you park your car.
